Prayer Intentions of the Pope
Our Constitutions state that “through our profession and the constantly renewed desire to reveal Christ, we are missionary for the whole of our life wherever we are sent by the Congregation” (SMSM Constitutions 15). Many Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary, after spending their youth and midlife in active overseas missions, have found new ways of being on mission in their senior years, after their return to their home country. Some are compassionate parish visitors, bringing Communion to the sick, and a word of comfort and cheer. Others teach English as a second language for migrants and refugees, while others again teach computer skills. Some are in nursing homes, and continue their mission through prayer and through attentiveness to their fellow residents.
All our senior sisters assure a Service of Prayer, which reaches out to people in need around the world.
