The Filles de Marie with friends celebrated 140 years since the foundation of their Congregation. On the 12 September 1875, at St Louis, New Caledonia, the first three indigenous women were consecrated as religious in the presence of Bishop Ferdinand Vitte and Sr Marie de la Croix (SMSM Pioneer).
This year Sr Marie de la Croix, recognized as the Foundress, was duly honoured. The SMSM present rejoiced with the Filles de Marie. Together all reflected on the wonders that God has done. It is worth noting that this first profession occurred only 32 years after the first Mass was celebrated, on Caledonian soil, at Mahamate.
