On the world day for consecrated life, 2 February 2015, Sisters Dipotta (Sunitha) Anthonipillai, Francisca Tsiori and Mira Taurannang pronounced their first vows as Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary. They had made their two years of novitiate in the Marist parish of St Anne’s, Manurewa, New Zealand, and the parish priest, Fr John Joliffe, sm, highlighted the significance of them publicly offering themselves to God on the day the church commemorates the presentation of Jesus in the Temple.
The three sisters come from what is now the Region of Asia-Pacific which was represented by Sister Lusia Meanadrau. Their vows were received by Sister Colleen Williams.
A youth choir from the parish led the parish congregation and the many visiting religious in praise, and Fr Chris Skinner, sm, sang two of his own compositions during the communion.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Sunitha is missioned to Senegal. Francisca from Papua New Guinea is sent to the Philippines, and Mira (I-kiribati) sets out for Vanuatu.
