God has done great things for me

SMSM SistersOn 4 January 2009, some SMSM around Auckland and Wellington (New Zealand) were granted the joy of praying and supporting Sisters Pelenatita Petelo and Margaret Sade who made their First Profession at Sacred Heart parish, Ponsonby. We are so fortunate because on an occasion such as this, the combined choirs, Samoan and Tongan in the parish always help us to sing Mass. You can imagine how prayful the whole ceremony was.

Bishop Dunn mentioned that this profession day just happened before the Catholic Church in New Zealand would celebrate Bishop Pompallier’s arrival and first Mass in New Zealand within a few days.

At the moment when Sr Pelenatita and Margaret were given their Mission Cross, Bishop Dunn touched their crosses with the one he was wearing, and this was Bishop Pompallier’s cross. A significant gesture on this day when our two sisters committed themselves as missionaries to the nations.

Everyone was invited to a meal after mass at the parish hall. It was an opportunity for us to thank the parishioners for so many years of cooperation and also to tell them goodbye as a few days later, on 7 January, we had to move to Manurewa where the new formation house is established.
