News from Tuesday of the second week

The delegates met and approved the process for the election of the Congregational Leader, which will take place on Friday, September 26th and Saturday, September 27th. We would be grateful for your prayer for this important event.

The four special commissions made up of both English and French speaking delegates began their deliberations today, with the goal of producing a proposal or text to present to the entire Chapter body this week. The five language groups that had met for several days, gave an opportunity for all the chapter delegates to discuss the four main topics of the General Chapter: Consecration for Mission, Vocations and Formation for Mission, Resources for Mission and Structures for Mission. The reports from these discussions will aid in the deliberations of the work commissions.

An informal sharing on new ministries for SMSM took place after the midday meal today. Those who attended heard about experiences of our sisters in work with refugees, outreach to street children, the victims of human trafficking and the formation of Marist Laity groups for youth.
