Prayer Intentions of the Pope

Each month the Pope invites all members of the Church to pray for particular needs. This month the Prayer Intentions of the Pope are:


AUGUST - For World Youth Day

We pray the World Youth Day in Lisbon will help young people to live and witness the Gospel in their own lives.


Needs of the Church, the Congregation and the world

Join with us in praying for the needs of the Church, the Congregation and the world, in particular for:


SIGNIFICANT ANNIVERSARY DAYS AND FEAST DAYS IN THE MARIST FAMILY

August 1   St Julien Eymard (died in 1868)

August 4   St John Marie Vianney TOM (died 1859)

August 9   Anniversary of the death of Sr Marie de la Croix

August 15   Feastday of the Assumption  (C. 140)

(We prepare by community prayer…On the feast of the Assumption or during that week, we spend an hour before the Blessed Sacrament in union with Mary, asking her to thank Jesus for the gift of our vocation and for all the graces received during the year.)

Let us continue to remember in our prayers:

  • The congregational study of our Constitutions and the preparatory work for the general chapter.
  • Srs Georgeanne Marie Donovan, Akenese Afoa, Aimée Herodia Herindrainy, Dipotta Anthonippilllai, Hélène Diouf, Maria Fe Rollo, Mary Eve Felesi, and Sofia Afoa and the young people preparing to participate in the International Gathering of Marist Youth in Portugal 26-29 July, then in the World Youth Days from 1- 6 August.
  • The young women who are discerning a vocation to be smsm in our communities in Tanzania (Victoria and Lillianne), Rwanda (Dorine and Laura), Senegal (Lilian) and Tonga (Sinalolo).
  • Our generous benefactors who help us by their prayers and sacrifices, and the funding agencies who respond to our requests.  
  • Our sisters, our loved ones and our benefactors who have died recently.
